Former Eagles Midfielder, Thompson Oliha dies at 44


Thompson Oliha (born 4 October 1968 in Benin City, Nigeria was a Nigerian professional football midfielder who played for clubs in Africa and Europe during an injury-shortened career. Oliha died on June 30, 2013


He played for Bendel Insurance (1985-1987), Iwuanyanwu Nationale (1988-1991), Africa Sports (1992-1993), Maccabi Ironi Ashdod F.C. (1993-1994) and Antalyaspor (1994-1995). As a player, he was known for his powerful shots and abilities in the air. Oliha retired at the age of 27, as a result of a serious knee injury.
At the time of his passing he was an assistant coach for the Kwara Football Academy

Supersport, confirming his death in Ilorin. The doctor, Doctor Yusuf Addulraheem revealed that Oliha was brought to the hospital at the time when there was nothing he could do to resuscitate him.

    “I feel so sad to confirm to you that Thompson Oliha is dead and by the time his wife brought him here, he body was completely lifeless.

“His wife Irish Oliha told me that he slumped in the toilet before rushing him to hospital and there was nothing we could do to save him,” Addulraheem said to supersport.com.
