Ex-Aviation Minister, Osita Chidoka, quits PDP

Former Minister of Aviation Osita Chidoka has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Chidoka, who previously served as the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), revealed his decision during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday.

Explaining his reasons for stepping away from politics, Chidoka stated that he intends to focus on his nonpartisan organization, the Athena Centre for Policy and Leadership. The center is dedicated to promoting evidence-based governance and reforming Nigeria’s political system.

“Earlier today, I sent a letter to my ward in Anambra State resigning officially from the PDP. I am leaving the PDP, I am leaving politics for some time, I am focusing on the Athena Centre,” Chidoka said on the program. “I will work in concert with other Nigerians who want us to reform the political system to bring evidence-based governance and to support it. So, effective today, I am no longer a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.”

In his resignation letter to the PDP Chairman of Obosi Ward in Anambra State, Chidoka expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunities he had to serve the country. He noted that his tenure as Corps Marshal of the FRSC and later as a minister were achievements made possible under the PDP.

However, Chidoka emphasized that his current commitment to the Athena Centre requires his undivided attention and a neutral, nonpartisan stance.
