NAF strikes bandit camps in Zamfara, neutralises notorious leaders
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully carried out a series of airstrikes targeting bandit camps in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, resulting in the deaths of several bandits, including high-profile leaders Ado Aliero and Dan Umaru.
The airstrikes, executed by the air component of Operation Fasan Yamma, were a part of ongoing efforts to combat insurgency and banditry in Nigeria’s north-western region.
According to counterinsurgency publication Zagazola Makama, intelligence sources confirmed that the operation significantly disrupted the bandits’ operations, neutralized high-value targets, and destroyed crucial planning hubs used to launch attacks.
One of the targeted locations, the residence of bandit leader Dan Umaru, was reportedly destroyed by flames during the operation, delivering a major setback to the criminal network.
This attack follows a series of successful military actions, including the elimination of notorious bandit kingpin Kachallah Buzu in Zamfara by Operation Hadarin Daji troops in September.
Additionally, the NAF thwarted a terrorist attack in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, killing at least 28 bandits.
