It was a colourful event that attracted the high and mighty in the corridors of power and showbiz industry in Rivers state as the Maiden Edition of the South South Progressive Award took centre stage in Port harcourt recently.
The event which was well attended had the presence of some distinguished personalities who were honoured for their track record in human and capacity development in their fields of endeavour. Notable among those celebrated was High Chief Engr. Johnbosco Obinna Onunkwo who was decorated with a special award of Excellence in Youth Development.
The Anambra state born Oil magnet and award winning philanthropist who had shining leadership profile, overwhelming working antecedents in Agip Oil company and impressive track records in his field of endeavour also recently added another feather to his already feathered cap when he bagged a Doctorate Honours at the ISCG University Port Novo D Republic of Benin.
The South South Progressive Award which was held at the Presidential Hotel, Port Harcourt was championed by Amb. Kingsley Amafibe who has over the years empowered youths across the Federation especially in the Capital City, Delta State, Lagos state and the northern Nigeria through his numerous Charity projects, peace education campaign, Peace Achievers Award, Peace Summit and his popular Peace Pageant - Miss Ambassador for peace. Speaking to cross sections of journalist at the award event he said" High Chief Engr. Johnbosco Obinna Onunkwo does not only merit this award but is a honour to have his present to pick the award himself....we congratulate the awardees and encourage them to keep up with the good works"
