Nigeria's new pop sensation known as Yungjeff has just survived a deadly robbery attack which happened on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, in the Ajah, area of Lagos State.
The rapper, who was scheduled to perform during the weekly Industry Nite held at Othello Lounge, Victoria Island Lagos, was accosted around 7pm by a group of armed hoodlums numbering about eight.
He was physically assaulted alongside his P.A, who escaped with bodily bruises.
The rapper's cellphones, expensive jewelry worth hundreds of thousands of naira, inluding an undisclosed amount of cash was taken from him. The visibly shaken singer would have suffered extensive injuries save for the timely appearance of some army personnel on patrol, who finally came to the scene of the incident prompting the criminals to zoom off into the dark.
Reacting to the incident, a senior management of NCS Entertainment, Yungjeff's UK based record label Mr Nneji Onuoha said has said that the "attack was a mindless one which has left their artiste traumatized", adding that the incident "prevented the rapper from appearing on stage at the Industry Nite in which he was billed to perform". They also went on to thank the men of Nigeria's Army who fortunately were on patrol duty and charged them and the Lagos state government to do more in terms of security to prevent such type of criminal activities in the future.
Yungjeff who recently released the music video to his nationwide hit 'Oroma' is on a nationwide media and club tour and has been the talk of the town, waltzing into an indigenous rap genre already dominated by the likes of Phyno, Zoro and many others.
He seems to have found his mojo, after featuring Zoro in his debut single 'Tem Tem', and returing with a big bang 'Oroma', which is currently enjoying massive airplay across Africa.
