LABOUR PARTY CHAIRMAN REAWAKES NATIONAL HOPE; SHARES HEARTFELT SEASONS’ GREETINGS
Once again, a new year is gliding in gradually with countless expectations, intentions, visions and aspirations. As the year 2018 unfolds the prospects it holds for us as a nation, I would love to convey my heartfelt greetings, recommendations and applauds for every Nigerian citizen, who stood patiently in the spirit of national perseverance and true nationalism.
I want to commend specially those of us
Who worked so hard to put food on the family table
Who generated our own electricity
Who drilled our own boreholes or went miles to get water home
Who worked 2-3 jobs to see our kids go to school
Who ran helter-skelter to access basic healthcare
Who have struggled to see our businesses survive a recession having counted many losses
Years may come and go but our collective adherence to nation building will continue to blossom and will never be altered by national or global foes.
The year 2017 came through with a myriad of dysfunctional challenges, ranging from leadership lacuna, the historic inflation that choked the economy and the several intra-national crisis between Fulani herdsmen and farmers; boko-haram insurgents; the legendary secessionism that sustained agitations of Biafra in the south eastern region of Nigeria and the recent queues for PMS that has eventually snaked into our roads.
However, the entire leadership of Labour Party and the National Working Committee of the party is encouraging Nigerians to embrace the privileges of 2018; we must start afresh in areas where we despaired; we must start strong, and utilize this chance to do everything we couldn't achieve in the year, 2017. As a country, I mean the giant of Africa, we must set positive goals and resolutions that are feasible, flexible and accessible, so as to accommodate a responsive interaction to suggestions.
We must remember that last year's words belong to last year's language, and next year's words await another voice; however the first day of January is the first blank page of a 365-page book, we must ensure to write a good one.
Therefore, I wish every Nigerian both at home and in Diaspora a successful 2018 calendar year and also a new chance for us as a nation to get it right and more importantly, I wish you the power to keep hope alive. May the new year bring with it the aura of possibilities so that you can believe a time will come
Where your daily bread is assured
Where power is consistent and not from the unending sounds of generator
Where you have enough faith to turn on your taps and see running water
Where your children's education is effortless priority
Where your life counts and healthcare is accessible, available and affordable.
Where your businesses can thrive.
My desire is that we not only keep hope alive but we act to bring about these possibilities.
Labour party will continue to support the unequivocal advancement of our great country; the peoples' request is fundamental and an imperative priority to us (Labour Party).
"Season's Greetings",
From Mike Omotosho
National Chairman, Labour Party
