POSITIVE STEP!!! Court grants Atiku leave to inspect presidential election materials

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja sitting in Abuja has granted the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar access to the presidential election material.

Channels TV reports that the three-man panel on Wednesday, March 6 heard the ex-parte motion filed Atiku and his party seeking access to the materials used in the presidential election which was won by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Justice Abdul Aboki who led the panel ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to allow Atiku access to all electoral materials to enable him file electoral petition.

The panel however denied the former vice president his request to be able to scan and carry out a forensic audit on the basis that "a forensic audit does not fall under the terms envisaged by section 151 of the electoral act."

Alexreports had reported that Atiku Abubakar who is the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) explained why he applied for an order to compel the Independent National Electoral Commission to surrender its election materials.

Atiku is asking that the materials used for the February 23 election which he lost to President Muhammadu Buhari be made available.
