MS. KARIMA RHANEM, HON. NANCY CASSELL, DR. AHMED ADAMU OTHERS RECOGNISED FOR GLOBAL EXCELLENCE AWARD AT WHLCH.
The 6th edition of World Habitat Leadership Conference and Honours has recognised the outstanding inputs of distinguished personalities and agencies who have made extra impact at improving the global space, especially in areas of inadequate attention and action on secured human habitat.
The epoch making conference which was themed, "Effective Leadership; It's Role in Securing and Ensuring a Sustainable Habitat",was opened with the keynote address by the Chairman Board of Trustees, World Habitat Ambassador Foundation, High Chief Sunnie Chukumele
In the address of the Chairman, he says, "the aim of this initiative is to promote socially and environmentally sustainable human settlements and shelter through policy advocacy and mobilization support for adequate attention and action towards inadequate and secured human habitat".
He also noted that the United Nations had created dedicated programs to propagate and engage world governments and leaders in ensuring the enhancement of capacity on issues bothering on the habitat and human settlements.
The conference which was well attended by High commissioners and representatives from over 194countries, was clouded with an ambience of critical deliberations, award recognition and powerful discusses on global habitat, as well as the role of leaders in determining the pace of development in this sector.
In a reaction, Dr. Mike Omotosho also noted that Nigeria as a nation must make concious efforts in to engage th green agenda, as he proposed a program which he called the roadmap 2050 - an initiative which he said would help in reducing carbon monoxide emission by 50percent.
The event 6th edition of World Habitat Leadership Conference and Honours also delved in an award segment which witnessed the recognition of the President of the International Centre for Diplomacy in Morocco presenting the Award for Global Excellence to Karima Rhanem, by the High Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobago, Ambassador Wendell De Landro
Other award recipient for the Global Excellence Award are Hon. Nancy Cassell, the Deputy Minister of Administration and Public Safety in the Ministry of Justice, Liberia, by the His Excellency, Ambassador Muhidini Ally Mboweto, the High Commissioner of the United Republic of Tanzania; Dr. Ahmed Adamu, the First Ever Global Chairperson of the Commonwealth Youth Council and other award categories at he conference which was held in Nigeria, at Sheraton hotel and towers, Abuja.
According to the Convener of World Habitat Leadership Conference and Honours, Amb. Hillary Emoh, during a brief conversation with our reporter, he expressed fulfilment at the success of the conference, he stressed that with such conferences, the world could become a better place, as we implore more leaders to participate in promoting global habitat, so as to enable sustainbility.
