REVEALED!! Some Kidnapping Cases Are False - Osinbajo Tells Nigerians In US

Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria's Vice President who is currently in the US to meet Vice President Mike Pence, told Nigerians in the country that some kidnapping cases are false and quite exaggerated.

Osinbajo who told Nigerians in the US that some kidnapping cases are false at a town hall meeting in New York on Sunday evening, insisted that the social media "tends to be hysterical about practically everything." This came after the United Kingdom told its citizens not to visit some states in Nigeria due to the rising insecurity occasioned by kidnapping, banditry, militancy, terrorism and other challenges, and after Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, Femi Adesina, said the level of insecurity in the country had put the nation in "dire times."

Responding to the concern about the reported spate of killings and kidnappings back home and what the government was doing to address the situation, Osinbajo said;

"With respect to general kidnappings which we have seen in parts of the country, again, this is not entirely new. In fact, some of the kidnapping stories you read or listen to are simply not true anywhere, some are fuelled by politics. There are cases of kidnappings, no question at all about that, but some of the more dramatic stories that you hear are simply not true. Every report of kidnapping we receive, we try to verify, and at the end of the day you find out that people just tell all sorts of stories."
