UNIZIK's 14th Convocation: "Education is the key needed to unlock your world of greatness and unlimited opportunities" - Maduka

It is with great pleasure I write to felicitate with the management, staff and students of Nnamdi Azikiwe University on this occasion of her 14th Convocation ceremony. It is indeed a wonderful epoch making event, you certainly have earned this celebration of success. Heartiest congratulations and best wishes for the future to the staff and graduants of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka – Anambra State.

Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe was a Pan-Africanist leader who conquered various extricating societal challenges in his early life, translated his education, exposure and experience into alternatives that serve key interest of the common man today. The great Zik of Africa believed in the transformative value of education which shapes the future of an individual as well as that of a nation by extension.

Our universities shouldn't be limited to being an institution of learning, rather, it should also be a catalyst of solutions to the socio-economic challenges we face as a nation. Given the chunk of great products Nnamdi Azikiwe University has produced overtime, one can say UNIZIK has continued to play key roles in the advancement of higher learning in Nigeria.

In-line with the above, I wish to congratulate the Vice Chancellor – Prof. Charles Okechukwu Esimone and his Management team for their genuine commitment to transforming the image of the university positively. May the years ahead hold greater prospect for Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

I Dr. Godwin Maduka, coming from a poor background, acquiring best of western education (triple professorship in various fields of medicine) and translating it in to a successful professional practice, can attest to the fact that we were given the same brain that was given to Asians, Indians and Europeans. If I could do it as a product of the prestigious Harvard University, you too can do it as Zikite.

Seeing students go through suffocating journey of hopelessness and extricating poverty, remains a sight I can't behold. Hence, I have continued to offer scholarships to thousands of indigent students over many years to help them discover self and exploit their full potentials. At this juncture, I will like to commend the government for their commitment and also urge them to do more for the university and students, especially as it concerns addressing their pressing demands.

Finally, I urge you all to remain positive, steadfast and goal driven, not to betray the society's expectations of you.

Once more, I say a hearty congratulations and wish the graduands, God's guidance and prosperity in all their future endeavours.
