Despite 73 coronavirus cases, Ganduje relaxes Kano’s lockdown

Kano State government has relaxed the one week stay at home order for 18 hours between 6am – 12 midnight Thursday.

This is despite 73 coronavirus cases in the state and the continued mysterious spike in the death rate of the state. At least 180 have been reported dead in the state in the last four days.

 

Deputy Governor, Nasir Yusuf Gawuna, made the announcement while briefing journalists on Wednesday at government house.

Gawuna who is also the Chairman, State Taskforce Committee on COVID-19, disclosed that the relaxation of the lockdown was considered by the government to enable residents prepare for the holy month of Ramadan.

 

Meanwhile, the state commissioner for religious affairs, Muhammad Tahir Adam, said the state government has banned all forms of religious gatherings during the coming Ramadan.

He said the State government would make special arrangements to have Muslim scholars conduct radio and television lectures during the period.

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje ordered total lockdown for seven days on Thursday 16th, April, 2020, to curtail for spread of the global health burden in the state.
