FG to discharge 2 COVID-19 patients in Abuja today


The University of Abuja Teaching Hospital at Gwagwalada is set to discharge two coronavirus (COVID-19) patients today. This is coming two days after the government announced that it discharged seven patients in the nation’s capital. The Chief Medical Director, Prof. Bissalla Ahmed Ekele, revealed this on Thursday evening when the Managing Director of Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited, Engr. Lamu Audu, handed over donations of ventilators, personal protective equipment and a renovated accommodation for the medical staff to the management of the hospital. Daily Trust reports that the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) had on Wednesday night said Nigeria recorded twenty-two new confirmed cases , bringing the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country to 276.

A tweet on the official NCDC Twitter handle: @ncdcgov, on Wednesday night, reads: “Twenty-two new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria: 15 in Lagos, 4 in the FCT, 2 in Bauchi, 1 in Edo. “As at 09:00pm, 8th April there are 276 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria. Fourty-four have been discharged with six deaths.” The FCT currently recorded 54 confirmed cases as at Wednesday night.
