Teenager stabs brother to death in Abuja


A teenager in Zuba town, an outskirt of the Federal Capital Territory, allegedly stabbed his elder brother to death, Daily Trust gathered. The suspect, Sani Abubakar Sani, 18, reportedly committed the crime when the deceased, Mansur Abubakar, 20, attempted to stop him (suspect) from attacking two lovers sitting in front of their house on Monday night. Sani was said to have been infuriated when he noticed the two lovers, sitting in front of their house around 9pm on Monday. Some witnesses, who spoke to our reporter on Tuesday, said the suspect had ordered the two lovers to vacate the place and when they did not comply, he went into the house, and came out with a knife.

.One of the witnesses, Abdullahi Adam, said the deceased rushed to the scene upon hearing about a misunderstanding between his younger brother and the two lovers. He (the deceased) tried to hold back his younger brother from attacking the male lover, it was gathered. “Only for the boy (Sani) to turn against him (Mansur) and stab him in his neck out of annoyance, for attempting to stop him from fighting the man (the male lover)”, Adam added. It was learnt that the suspect fled the area after the incident. A source in the area said police visited the family house of the deceased on Tuesday and took the remains to the Kubwa General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead. The corpse was thereafter released to his family and he was buried in accordance with Islamic rite. When contacted, the Zuba Divisional Police Officer, CSP Lamido Alkali, confirmed the incident, adding, however, that the police were yet to hear from the said lovers, who are the principal witness to the crime.
