Thailand king Who Went Into Isolation With 20/Women, tests positive for coronavirus in Germany; sets up private clinic in hotel

Thailand's king has tested positive for coronavirus while self-isolating in a luxury hotel in Germany with his entourage.

Three of his entourage have also tested positive in the Alpine resort town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

King Maha Vajiralongkorn, also known as Rama X, is said to have booked out the entire Grand Hotel Sonnenbichl after the four-star hotel received "special permission" from the district council to accommodate his party.

The King tested for coronavirus after 119 members of the entourage were sent back to Thailand on suspicions they contracted the highly contagious respiratory disease.

The 67-year-old king's entourage included 20 women and numerous servants, reported German tabloid Bild.

According to German media, King Maha Vajiralongkorn is in a stable condition and being treated in his hotel  by Thai doctors who traveled to Germany on a chartered flight. The King is reported to have ordered five ventilators from China to beef up his personal clinic at the resort.

Guesthouses and hotels in the region were ordered to close due to the coronavirus crisis, but a spokesperson for the local district council said the Grand Hotel Sonnenbichl was an exception because "the guests are a single, homogenous group of people with no fluctuation".
