Delta Birthing Unsurpassable Health Care Facilities Under Gov. Okowa - Dr Michael Nwoko

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State and Coordinator of Delta State Health Monitoring Team, Dr. Michael Nwoko has stated that Delta State under the command of his Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa is birthing unsupassable health care facilities across the State. 


Dr. Nwoko made this known while addressing news men after a thorough and rigorous monitoring and evaluation visit to the Delta State University Teaching Hospital (DELSUTH), Oghara on Wednesday 09/06/2021.

Dr. Nwoko noted that DELSUTH, Oghara being the only State own tertiary health care facility and a flagship of the State Government under the able command of His Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa is wearing a new look following the massive face lift and construction work at the facility adding that one of the most critical programmes and policies of the Gov. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa - Led administration is to improve health care facilities which has helped to change the dynamics of health care delivery system in the State for which the people of the State are benefiting immensely with great joy. 


The ebullient SSA  emphasized that DELSUTH is a 300 bed capacity world class medical facility which will be the best in this part of the Country when commissioned and that there was need to commend the efforts of his Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, the Governor of Delta State. 

“What we are seeing in this facility at this time shows a remarkable difference in the state of the face lift and construction work and services rendered in  when we visited two years ago."


" DELSUTH, Oghara is a pride and a major flagship of the State." "A 300 bed capacity world class health care facility when commissioned, will become the best health care facility in this part of the Country".  


The contractor and consultant handlling the project gave the assurance that the main hospital complex which is a 220 bedded area will be completed and handed over to the hospital authority in two (2) weeks. The SSA and other members of the Health Monitoring Team as well as top management staff of the hospital led by the Chief Medical Director, lamented over the slow pace of the project and admonished them to deliver the job in record time so that it does not affect the functionality of the hospital.

Dr. Nwoko and his amiable monitoring team alongside top management staff led by the Chief Medical Director of the hospital visited all units and departments of the hospital as part of the 2021 monitoring rounds of the Delta State Health Monitoring Team. 


At the end of the tour around the facilities, the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Onome Ogueh thanked the Delta State Health Monitoring Team for visiting the hospital once again and appreciated the State Governor, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for being so committed and dedicated in providing them the needed facilities and manpower to carry out discharge their irrespective of the present situation in the Country adding that the visit of the Health Monitoring Team has added much value to the hospital. 

The high point of the monitoring visit was a crucial meeting between top management staff of the hospital and the Delta State Health Monitoring Team where in critical decision was reached as to strategy to reposition the hospital in line with the vision of his Excellency, Sen. Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, the Governor of Delta State.
