Federal Fire Service Set To Acquire 15 New Set Of Fire and Rescue Trucks

 

To increase service delivery of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), the Nigerian government through the Ministry of Interior has made a move to acquire 15 Fire and Rescue Trucks to support accident Victims rescue mission across the country.


As part of the process to secure the trucks, the Hon Minister of Interior Ogbeni Rauf Aregbosola has despatched a team led by the Controller General of the FFS, Dr. Liman A. Ibrahim Mfire. E, FPA, icc, and accompanied by K.C Agu, DCG Rtd. Mr. Deji, Technical Adviser to the HonorableMinister of Interior on Federal Fire Service and Mr Jawachi MD/CEO along with his wife on Friday, June 4, paid a visit to Portugal, where they inspected the Rescue Trucks being manufactured at Jacinto Fire Trucks Manufacturing Industry, in Porto, Portugal.


Speaking on the proposed acquisition of trucks, the CGF noted that subject to the approval of President, the FFS is proposing to acquire 15 trucks, with a plan for each of 12 zones of the FFS and FCT to receive one truck each. While Ibadan and Lokoja will receive one each due to the high rate of accidents along their connecting routes.


He noted that the fire fighting trucks have an inbuilt rescue and emergency ancillary equipment, which will not only help to curb the spread of fire but also help in extrications of trapped Victims as well as providing first aid medical care for victims from all sorts of accidents at the scene.
