Group Tasks Bandits On Genuine Repentance, Urges Leaders To Change Their Ways

An inter-religious group under the auspices of Coalition of Inter Faith Prayer Group has urged bandits and terrorists to genuinely turn a new leaf and seek God's forgiveness for the peace and stability of the country. 


This is even as it calls on Nigerian political leaders to change their ways and pursue policies and actions that will benefit the masses. 


At a prayer meeting in Abuja, the group comprising Christian and Muslim faithful sought God’s intervention over the country's current security challenges while also praying for the immediate restoration of peace and unity across Nigeria. 

With the theme, “The Wisdom of God in Such a Time as This”, the group also offered prayers for President Muhammadu, politicians, armed forces and traditional rulers for divine direction and growth of the country. 


The President Muslim And Christian Love Foundation, Bishop Ugo Ugokwe Prince prayed God to restore the country's lost glory. 


Bishop Ugokwe who is also the Senior pastor of Yoke Breakers Church, Abuja, appealed to those breaching Nigeria’s peace and unity to desist from their evil ways and embrace peace to avoid God's wrath.


“If they refuse to stop their evil ways, I pray that God will disappoint them and before the end of 2022, there’ll be confusion in their camp, God would disappoint any group that is gathering against the peace and unity of Nigeria,” Bishop Ugokwe said.

He prayed for peace and tranquility in North East, South East, South West and Nigeria at large. 


Leading the Muslim prayer, Imam of the coalition, Aliyu Hussaini, similarly appealed to the bandits and terrorist to lay down their arms, repent, seek Allah’s forgiveness and change their ways. 


He said, “they should genuinely repent and seek Allah’s forgiveness of their sins because the door is open for repentance before their time on earth come to an end because what they are doing is destructive and very bad”.

Organiser of the National Day of Prayer, Abdullahi Isa Karim of Gbemisola Ruqayyah Saraki Movement (GRS), Abuja chapter, said the meeting became necessary for all Nigerians irrespective of their religious and political differences. 


He appealed to politicians to at all times have the interest of the nation at heart, maintaining there the peace of the country in important to create conducive atmosphere for them to pursue their political interests. 


He emphasized that the organisation was inspired by the need to foster peace in the country through prayers and God’s intervention for a lasting peace and unity.



He also called in young people to desist from abusing political office holders but to support them with good ideas and prayers.


Also part of the prayer meeting are Radio Nigeria and News Agency of Nigeria.
