TEDxLokogomawomen: Agree That Women Do Not Support Each Other

Abuja based TEDx Organizer, Ikalone Udo speaks…

Abuja made history on the 28th of October 2022, when women and men converged on the Merit House Auditorium Abuja to watch and listen to amazing speakers that cut across various sectors in the city.

Ikalone Udo, the TEDx Ambassador of Ideas and serial TEDx Organizer is the curator of TEDxLokogomaWomen, TEDxKids@Mbora, Co-organizer of TEDxCiteAzimmo, TEDxYouth@FuntajIntlSchool, TEDxYouth@BankySchools and TEDxSaboOkeRd, a Public Speaking Coach, PR Consultant, an Accredited Management Consultant, CEO of Danikal Management Consult, Danikal Consults Public Speaking Academy and Founder of Speakout Initiative For Women and children with over 20 years’ experience in various fields such as Insurance, Banking, Beauty, Child Psychology, Mental Health First Aid, Emotional Intelligence and Communications who is very passionate about the curation of ideas and helping individuals articulate their thoughts in a very logical and persuasive manner to ensure the desired outcomes are achieved.

Friday the 28th of October, 2022 would not be forgotten in a hurry as participants gathered to watch speakers at the TEDxLokogomaWomen event tagged VOICES! The goal of the event was to gather women around the community to hear Female Voices inspire change amongst other women and give women the opportunity to speak about issues of concern and that was achieved by listening to brilliant ideas such as “Beauty Beyond the Crown”, delivered by Queen Hadassah Allaputa, “The Mindset for Wealth Creation” by Temi Ajibewa; “Your Poise! Your Voice!” by Sonye Allanah, “The Power of a Vision Board” by Celina Unogwu, “How Feminism Has Complicated A Simple World” by Kingsley Ezeme, “How Women Can Feed Africa” by Samira Bello, “Empowering A Woman Gives Her A Voice” by Pst. Mrs. Deborah Adaji, “Why Women Do Not Support Other Women and Why They Should” by Chinyere Obi-Obasi, “Woman, Speak Your Way to The Top” by Catherine Onyejiaka.

When asked what the speakers selection process was, Ikalone Udo said “not everyone can speak on the TEDx Stage; not every Idea is worth sharing on the TEDx stage; not every speaker who speaks on the TEDx stage gets their speeches published and not every TEDx event gets featured on TEDx YouTube channel”. TEDx is not just about having a brilliant idea or doing amazing things, it takes a lot of coaching on how to craft their message in a logical manner to fit the standards of TEDx and every other stage within the allotted time and that is what all speakers have to go through before they get on the TEDx platforms I organize.

Another exciting segment of the day was the Panel session where Panelists deliberated on Why Women Do Not Support Each Other. All the panelists with the exception of one agreed that it was true that women hardly support other women and they gave the infamous example of a Nigerian Female Presidential aspirant who was not even voted by other women. They also shared their personal stories but advised that women should intentionally pull up younger women, develop mentorship programs and create opportunities for younger colleagues to thrive.

The TEDx Organizer also mentioned that two other TEDx Youths events would hold soon in the city of Abuja and she is currently seeking for sponsorship from individuals and corporate organizations who are interested in supporting children and youths with innovative ideas worth sharing on a global platform like TEDx with over 36million YouTube subscribers and this is a great opportunity for the organizations to showcase their brands as stakeholders in supporting children with amazing ideas.
