JUST IN: Abuja On Fire As Gunmen Attack FCT, Kill One, Several Missing

Gunmen have attacked a residence in the Wuse Zone 5 area of Abuja, Nigeria’s capital city, killing one person.

According to The PUNCH, several persons are still missing following the attack.

The assailants were said to have escaped through the hills.

An eyewitness told the newspaper that the gunmen shot indiscriminately after storming Amilomania Street before later moving to Toyin Street.

“We heard gunshots twice when they first stormed a house at Amilonania Street. They’re now at Toyin Street, at the last house by the hill.

“They shot a tailor, Oshodi, and he’s lying down dead. They also shot another male, but we have taken him to the General Hospital at Phase 4, but he was unconscious.

“The gunmen have escaped through the hill. We are equally looking for some people and we’ve not found them. It’s possibly an abduction,” the eyewitness said.

Efforts to reach the police spokesperson for the Federal Capital Territory, Josephine Adeh, were not successful as she didn’t answer calls.

Terrorists and other armed groups have recently made incursions into Abuja. For instance, on July 5, heavily armed terrorists attacked Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja.

The attackers freed scores of Boko Haram members.

There have also been a number of kidnapping incidents in the capital city amid worsening insecurity in the country.
