Update: London Police release Raymond Dokpesi after detention

Raymond Dokpesi, the CEO of DAAR Communications Plc was released after he was detained by the British authorities in London

The police arrested Mr. Dokpesi in the British capital on Sunday after he arrived in the country.

He boarded Lufthansa Flight LH916 from Frankfurt to London and was later picked up at Terminal 2 of Heathrow Airport in London.

However, he was released after being detained for several hours.

DAAR Communications, the owners of AIT and Ray Power, confirmed his release in a statement seen by SHAIDA on Monday.

The statement stated that Dokpesi “delayed” at the airport for several hours before being released.

The statement said, “The founder of DAAR Communications Plc, High Chief Raymond Dokpesi (Ph.D) has been released following an incident that caused his delayed arrival at London’s Heathrow Airport on Sunday, January 8, 2022.

“Dokpesi arrived via Frankfurt from Abuja in a Lufthansa Airline flight and was invited off the plane, before the rest of the passengers disembarked.

“Dokpesi was delayed at the airport for a few hours before being stamped, and British immigration officials cleared him from entering the country.

“His visit to the United Kingdom is not unrelated to the invitation of the PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar by the British government to share views on issues related to the 2023 presidential election.

“The founder of the media is the Deputy Director-General, Technology & Planning of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council.

“Chief Dokpesi wishes to thank everyone for the love, prayers and support they have shown after the news of the incident and for reassuring him that he is kind and compassionate.”
