2023 polls : Police nab disbanded Ebubeagu commander

 

Policemen on routine election patrol in Ebonyi State have arrested the Commander of Ebubeagu Security Network which was recently disbanded by a federal high court sitting in Abakiliki, the state capital.

According to a report by Daily Trust, the commander, Ibia Ogbonna popularly known as World Cup, was arrested at polling unit 002, located at Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic, Unwana, Afikpo North local government area of the state

He was allegedly found with two pump action rifles which were reportedly hidden in his sienna bus, a machete and some charms.

It could be recalled that a Federal High court sitting in Abakaliki, the state capital had proscribed Ebubeagu Security Outfit in the state.

Earlier on Thursday the state governor David Umahi during his state wide broadcast told security operatives to demobilize any one found with gun near polling units.
