The Candidate of the People's Democratic Party, PDP for Owerri Senatorial Zone, Hon Uche Onyeagocha has been endorsed by a political bigwig, grassroots mobilizer and notable Philanthropist, High Chief Tochi Kenneth Eleazu, Edi Eshiedi Gburugburu Nke Mbu Na Alaigbo.
High Chief Tochi Eleazu is the son of a renowned scholar and great economist with international reputation, Prof. Innocent Eleazu. Earlier in his academic life, Prof Innocent Eleazu was the Principal of Obodo Ahiara secondary school in Ahiazu Mbaise local government area.
Outside academics, Prof Eleazu had a stint in politics when he served as the Campaign manager to a Distinguished Senator representing Owerri Senatorial Zone, His Royal Highness, Eze Dr. Isidore Obasi, the Late traditional ruler of Ihite Afor-Ukwi in Mbaise.
During his father's academic service in Mbaise, High Chief Tochi Eleazu was also a student in one of the secondary schools in Mbaise.
It is instructive to state that this outstanding family understands the politics and uniqueness of Mbaise People, having related with them in several symbiotic ways.
On his reason for giving an express political support to the PDP candidate for Owerri Senatorial Zone, High Chief Tochi Eleazu stated categorically: "the man, Hon Uche Onyeagocha is the most politically fearless personality in Imo State, who speaks truth to power. He is also clean and free from corruption. Onyeagocha is a brave politician. That he demonstrated in his unshakable determination to save democracy, when he thwarted the electoral manipulation of Rochas Okorocha to restore the gubermatorial victory for Gov Emeka Ihedioha".
High Chief Tochi Kenneth Eleazu called on the good people of Mbaise nation to rally round Uche Onyeagocha and give their one hundred percent votes to him come 25th February election, adding that there are few politicians in Nigeria, who have similar patriotic spirit like Onyeagocha.
According to High Chief Eleazu, this is the time for the great people of Mbaise to reciprocate the kind gesture given to their son, Emeka Ihedioha by Onyeagocha. Chief Eleazu advised that profound electoral solidarity and support is expected frome nde Mbaise to their political friend and brother, Hon Uche Onyeagocha in return.
Chief Eleazu also admonished the electorates to vote good candidates with proven integrity and not political parties. He pointed out that electing Hon Uche Onyeagocha as political Rep from Owerri Senatorial Zone will amount to giving Nigeria one of the best and fearless lawmakers in the political history of Nigeria.
In his usual philanthropic disposition, High Chief Tochi Eleazu donated the sum of one million naira (#1,000,000) to Hon Uche Onyeagocha to boost his campaign resources.
Declaring this financial support, High Chief Eleazu said: "It is now part of my personal culture to support my words of encouragement to respected candidates with clean public records, seeking elective positions with some financial assistance. On this note, having seen the big task ahead of my incoming Senator, I consider it most appropriate to donate the sum of one million naira to Hon Uche Onyeagocha".
High Chief Tochi Eleazu called on other good and patriotic citizens of Imo State, particularly from Mbaise and Owerri Senatorial Zone to support the candidature of Uche Onyeagocha in their various capacities. He specifically pointed out the need for people to engage in door to door political evangelism, bringing the people to polling centres and making frantic clamour for more financial donations among other electoral solidarity.
