Omadefu gets APC state assembly flag after winning at Court of Appeal

The Chairman, Nasarawa State House of Assembly committee on Information, has been presented with the All Progressives Congress (APC) flag to contest for Keana Constituency seat.

This is after the Court of Appeal sitting in Makurdi, Benue State, declared him the authentic winner of the party’s primary for the area.

A Federal High Sitting in Lafia has had earlier declared Mohammed-Mu’azu Atose as the authentic candidate of the primary election conducted on May 28, 2022.

However, Omadefu appealed the lower court’s decision and won.

He was therefore presented the party’s flag by Governor Abdullahi Sule, who was represented by his deputy, Emmanuel Akabe at a ceremony in Lafia.

Speaking after the presentation of the flag to him, Omadefu described the judgement as a victory for democracy and rule of law, while hailing the judiciary for standing by the truth.

He said, ” Looking at the processes I have being through and at the end of the day, what I was hoping for has come to reality, I feel very fulfilled to be the flag bearer for the second time to contest for Keana Constituency at the State Assembly seat.

” It is part of the electioneering process that when certain actions negate the primary election, anybody can seek redress and my opponent had earlier approached a trial court sitting in Lafia to challenge my emergency as the winner of the election.

” After the trial court’s judgment, I wasn’t comfortable with the substance of the judgement and therefore, I took the matter to appear court and the verdict of the court is in my favour.”

Speaking during the presenting of the flag, Governor Sule urged party members to forget their differences and accept the will of God at all times to enable them work assiduously for the success of the party.

In his remarks, the state chairman of APC, Dr John Mamman, hailed Omadefu for his victory at the appeal court, nothing that justice can never be denied.

“Today we are today presenting this flag to the winner of the seat following the recent judgement delivered on 2/2/2023 at the appeal court,” he said.

He urged him to use the court verdict as a means of promoting mutual cohesion for sustainable progress of the party.
