Valentine Day: NGO celebrates physically challenged people with gifts

The Abike Ololade Foundation, led by the wife of the State Deputy-Governor, Mrs. Adesola Adewusi, has celebrated the physically challenged people with different gifts items.

The celebration was held at the front of “Glory 2 Glory” Supermarket and Gifts Items Hall, along Ibadan Express Way, Mayfair Area, Ile-Ife.

Adewusi, in her speech, attributed all achievements to God Almighty that spares the lives of the donour and the beneficiaries till date.

She appreciated those that graced the occasion from near and far, saying that it is good to be good and be cheer givers, for “givers never lack.”

According to her, Valentine Day symbolises a day of love and since God is love, admonished all and sundry to love each other by sharing from whatever little they have with others.

“People should desist from acts of selfishness but should rather extend the hand of caring to the less privileged,” stressing that “you are blessed to be a blessing.

“This would enable you to have blessings and useful children to yourself and society at large,” she said.

The Director advised the beneficiaries to ensure that they make use of the gifts judiciously and make ensure that they replicate such to others when it’s well with them.

Earlier, the wife of the Ooni of Ife, Queen Temitope Ogunwusi, said that Valentine’s Day is an annual traditional programme that is basically about love.

She said that everyone has a reason to praise the Lord, for God is love and wants all living creatures to admire the love of God for themselves as well as other people.

Queen Ogunwusi asked Nigerians to imbibe the spirit of love and to show it to others by sharing what they have with others, especially those who do not have.

In the same vein, General Manager, Osun Community Social Development Agency (OCSDA), Mrs. Abokede Aderonke, commended the NGO for using the founder’s life and property to help the less privileged.

Aderonke therefore, charged all humanity to make sure that they love each other and be kind and caring all through their lives.

In addition, Governor Ademola Adeleke’s sister, Chief Dupe Adeleke-Sanni, used the opportunity to advise other well-meaning Nigerians to take the advantage of a day set aside like Valentine’s Day to lend helping hands to the needy.

Adeleke-Sanni said that it will go a long way to change their lives for the better now and in the nearest future.

The Chairman, Joint National Association of Persons with Disability (JONAPWD), Mr. Okuwafemi Stephen, thanked God for the life of Mrs. Adewusi, who has taken it upon herself to care for them without minding the cost.

Stephen appealed to all meaningful Nigerians to partner with the Foundation to come to the help of the needy and prayed for God’s blessings upon them.

One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Oyebade Gbenga, applauded the donor for always helping them in the past 25 years even before she became the wife of the Osun State Deputy-Governor.

He prayed that God will perfect all that concerns her and her families.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that cash, sewing machines and wheelchairs were among the gifts given to the physically challenged people across the state.
