BREAKING : Again, LP factional chairman, Apapa, appears in presidential election petition tribunal

The factional National Chairman of Labour Party, Lamidi Apapa, on Friday morning made appearance at the Presidential Election Petition Court sitting in Abuja.

Apapa, who narrowly escaped physical attack during his appearance at the court  on Wednesday over the petition of Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, had earlier vowed to continue to witness proceedings at the tribunal, saying he remains the acting national chairman of the party.

Abujapress reports that the tribunal is expected to continue the pre-hearing of Obi’s petition on Friday.

It is not however, clear if Apapa, who is accused of working for the ruling All Progressives Congress to disrupt Obi’s petition, will be recognised by the court.

Recall a drama took place in the court on Wednesday when the justices failed to acknowledge the representation of the party aside the presidential candidate of the party, Peter Obi, who was present in court.

The tribunal refused to take an appearance for the LP as Apapa, as well as the National Women’s Leader of the party, Dudu Manugu, who is loyal to Julius Abure ( national chairman of the party), tried to make an appearance for Labour Party when the petition was called.

Justice Haruna Tsamani noted that if two persons are making an appearance for the party, they will not be put on record.

Apapa had attempted to occupy the seat reserved for the Abure but was resisted.

Abujapress reports that Abure had on Thursday announced his return as the national chairman of the Labour Party following the filing of a stay of execution motion at the Appeal Court against the High Court’s order suspending him and two other top officials of the party from office.
