Manchester United slammed for selling 5 stars

Rio Ferdinand has criticised Manchester United for selling five players.

Manchester United were the most dominant team in the Premier League during Sir Alex Ferguson's reign.

The Scotsman guided the Red Devils to a record 13 Premier League titles from 1992/93 to his retirement in 2013.

However, since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club, Manchester United have fallen away.

They are yet to win another Premier League and their highest points total remains the 81 Jose Mourinho secured in 2017/18.

Now, Rio Ferdinand his hit out at Manchester United for selling a number of players who he described as the 'lifeblood' of United:

"One of the big things they messed up on… they sold the Da Silva twins, they sold Welbeck, they sold Chicharito, Jonny Evans, all in a short space of time," Ferdinand said on Vibe With Five.

"They were the lifeblood of Man United, they all came through the system, all Man United boys, and that was lost as well. That was a part of what the club had been built on before, people who would come through the academy were integral to everything Man United stood for. And they were getting rid of those players willy-nilly, I couldn't believe the club even allowed it."
