About three days ago, it was reported that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, approved the forceful retirement of the service Chiefs that were appointed by the former president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, as new set of people took over from the retired service Chiefs.

In the development, Adewale Adeniyi, was appointed to take over from Hameed Ali, who happens to be the former Customs boss and was appointed politically by Buhari because, Ali had no experience in the Customs before he was appointed to head the Agency.

However, while Senator Shehu Sani, who happens to be the former senator representing the Kaduna Central Senatorial District, was reacting to this on his official Twitter handle this evening, he welcomed the appointment of Adeniyi as the Acting Comptroller of Customs.

He said that the appointment of Adeniyi, who is a Yoruba man from the South-west geopolitical zone of the country, will end the nepotism that happened in appointing the headship of the Agency during the reign of Hameed Ali.

Further talking, he urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to probe the way Customs was operated during Ali's administration, in order to get to the bottom of the allegation made against him.

Shehu Sani tweeted, "THE CUSTOMS

The appointment of Adewale Adeniyi as the new Acting Comptroller is a welcome development. It has finally put an end to the regionalisation of the headship of the Agency. The next step is the comprehensive probe of the way the agency was operated in the last eight years."
