Edo lawmakers serve deputy governor, Phillip Shaibu, impeachment notice
Members of Edo Assembly have served an impeachment notice to the Deputy Governor of the state, Comrade Philip Shaibu. In the notice delivered this morning, the lawmakers gave the deputy governor seven days to respond to allegations levelled against him.
Edo Governor Godwin Obaseki and Shaibu, both chieftains of the governing Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo, have been at loggerheads over the authentic governorship candidate of PDP in Edo.
Obaseki is fully backing a Lagos-based lawyer, Asue Ighodalo, who emerged as the party’s standard bearer of the governorship indirect primary election at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin, held two Saturdays ago while Shaibu emerged factional candidate at a parallel primary at his official residence on Commercial Avenue in Benin.
