FG okays N66bn for projects in FCT

In a significant move towards enhancing infrastructure in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Federal Government, FG, has approved a budget of over N66 billion for project execution.


Minister of State for the FCT, Mariya Mahmud, revealed this following the Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by President Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.


The allocated funds will be utilized for various critical projects aimed at improving transportation, judicial facilities, security, and road infrastructure within the FCT.


The largest contract, valued at N51.03 billion, has been awarded to Planet Project Limited for the development of a state-of-the-art bus terminal and other transportation facilities. This initiative is poised to enhance commuter experiences and streamline transportation services across the capital.


Additionally, a contract worth N7.26 billion was approved for Visible Construction Limited to undertake the construction of the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal. This move underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening judicial infrastructure and ensuring efficient delivery of justice.


Furthermore, the Federal Executive Council endorsed a contract valued at N412.35 million awarded to Messiah Contract People Limited for the provision of security operations and maintenance of backup generators for streetlights along presidential routes and Villa Gate 8. This measure aims to bolster security and safety measures within the federal capital city.


Lastly, a N7.6 billion contract was approved for the upgrade of Koita-Igbu Road in Kwali Area Council, awarded to El Emad Nigeria Limited. This project is expected to enhance road connectivity and foster economic development in the region.


The allocation of these substantial funds highlights the government’s unwavering commitment to infrastructure development and the overall advancement of the Federal Capital Territory.
