President Tinubu orders all MDAs to buy CNG-powered vehicles

Published on

President Bola Tinubu has taken decisive action to ensure energy security, drive utility, and reduce high fuel costs by mandating the procurement of compressed natural gas (CNG) powered vehicles by all government ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs).

In a statement released by Presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale, the President’s directive aims to further Nigeria’s transition to cleaner energy sources.

CNG-enabled vehicles are recognized for their lower emissions and affordability, offering a sustainable alternative for Nigerian energy consumers.

Addressing members of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) in Abuja, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of energy reforms initiated by his administration, declaring there would be no regression in these efforts.

“We must set the example as public officials in leading the way to a prosperous future,” stated the President. “It starts with us, and in demonstrating our commitment, Nigerians will follow our lead.”

President Tinubu instructed the rejection of all proposals for traditional petrol-dependent vehicles, urging FEC members to prioritize the procurement of CNG-compliant vehicles.

The President reiterated his commitment to maximizing Nigeria’s gas potential, reducing transportation costs, and improving the standard of living for all citizens.

With this directive, President Tinubu reaffirms his administration’s dedication to sustainable energy practices and economic progress.
