Terrorists attack market in Kaduna, kill 12
On Wednesday, terrorists attacked Maro Junction, a bustling weekly market in Maro Ward, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, resulting in the deaths of at least 12 people.
The attack occurred around 3 pm.
Former chairman of Kajuru LGA, Cafra Casino, confirmed the incident. According to him, 12 bodies have been recovered so far, and approximately 20 others, who sustained various injuries, have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Casino noted that this was the second time terrorists had targeted the market during business hours. The attack has left the community in a state of chaos, with residents fleeing to neighboring villages for safety.
“Security operatives drafted to the area have already left. We are appealing to the government to deploy security operatives to help restore normalcy,” Casino stated.
As of the time of this report, there has been no official confirmation from either the state government or the state police command. Attempts to contact the state Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, were unsuccessful, as phone calls and text messages went unanswered.
