A non-governmental organisation, Favour Aro Care Foundation which seeks to promote the protect child right has been unveiled in Abuja amidst high expectations to promote the welfare and development of children.
It was a fanfare of sort as it was inaugurated Friday, May 31 at Snow, Wuse 2 Abuja. It featured music, dance, comedy, dinner, witnessing presence of high profile individuals.
Sharing her vision, the founder of the foundation, Miss Favour Aro said the decision to set it up is borne out of her passion and love for the welfare of children in order to protect their future.
According to her, the society has not done enough to protect the rights of children, insisting that they are the future of the society and require the needed care and protection.
While reeling out the aims of the newly commissioned NGO, she said, "Sensitization of the public, parents, caregivers, and children themselves on their rights.
"To influence policies at local, national, and international levels in protecting and promoting children's rights.
"Creating awareness programs and campaigns aimed at preventing child abuse, exploitation, child labor, trafficking, and other forms of violence against children."
AbujaPress reports that Nigeria has been grappling with high rate of out-of-school children as a result of poor awareness especially in the northern region.
Many children and under-aged girls have also been taken outside the shores of this country for trafficking, forced labour and sexual exploitations.
Also included in the core objective of Favour Aro Care Foundation is advocating for child's right to quality education and healthcare, including access to quality schools, medical facilities, and essential services at local and international level.
It is also seeking to work towards providing support and services for vulnerable children, including those living in poverty, orphanage home or those with disabilities and special abilities.
Dignitaries at the event spoke glowingly of Favour Aro Care Foundation and pledged to offer the needed support to ensure that its aims and objectives are achieved.
