President Tinubu gives Jega fresh appointment

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Professor Attahiru Jega as the co-Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Implementation of Livestock Reforms, marking a significant move towards addressing challenges in the livestock sector and creating new opportunities for stakeholders across Nigeria.
The announcement was made during the committee’s inauguration at the presidential villa in Abuja.

President Tinubu emphasized the non-partisan nature of the committee’s mission, focusing on national development and the enhancement of agricultural productivity in the livestock-farming value chain.

He highlighted the need for collective efforts from both public and private sectors, state governments, and all Nigerians to achieve these objectives.

During the inauguration, President Tinubu expressed gratitude to Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the APC, for assembling a team of experienced experts committed to activating opportunities in the livestock sector.

He proposed the establishment of a dedicated Ministry of Livestock Development to facilitate research, cross-breeding, and modernization in veterinary practices, aiming to mitigate conflicts and enhance economic growth.

Furthermore, President Tinubu outlined the strategic roles of key ministers such as the Attorney-General, Minister of Communication, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, and Minister of Finance in removing legal barriers, facilitating automation, and ensuring adequate budget allocation for the reforms.

In conclusion, President Tinubu urged stakeholders to support the comprehensive reforms, emphasizing the potential economic benefits of livestock farming and cold-chain logistics.

He expressed optimism that these initiatives would lead Nigeria towards prosperity and sustainable development in the agricultural sector.
