Children lead hunger protest in Jalingo
In an uncommon display of youthful activism, children aged 8-13 and teenagers took to the streets of Jalingo on Thursday afternoon to protest the prevailing hardships.
Chanting “Bamu ai, bamu ai,” which means “We don’t agree, we don’t agree,” the young protesters sought to draw attention to the challenges they are facing.
The protest began on the popular Hamaruwa Way and proceeded towards the flyover bridge, a notable landmark in the city. The children and teenagers were vocal about their grievances, demanding immediate action to alleviate their suffering.
Our correspondent, who monitored the development, reported that personnel from the police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) closely monitored the protesters to ensure their safety and maintain order.
This rare instance of children and youths uniting to voice their concerns underscores the widespread discontent and the urgent need for solutions to the hardships they are experiencing.
