Tinubu strategises with Wike amidst Abuja protests

Published on

President Bola Tinubu has held a meeting  with Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), against the backdrop of the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests in Abuja.

Wike arrived at the Presidential Villa at around 4 PM in an SUV on Thursday, promptly heading to the Presidential Office for discussions with President Tinubu.

The specific agenda of their meeting was not made public, but it occurred during a period of heightened civil unrest in the capital.

Protests have erupted in various parts of the FCT, notably in the Central Area near Eagle Square. Despite warnings from security agencies, demonstrators continued to occupy the area.

A court order had previously confined protests to the Moshood Abiola Stadium, but protestors left the stadium and moved to Eagle Square, causing significant traffic and business disruptions in the Central Area.

Sources suggest that the protests might have prompted Wike’s meeting with President Tinubu, as the two leaders reportedly discussed strategies to address the unrest effectively.
