APC urges Tinubu’s govt to declare state of emergency in Zamfara
The All Progressives Congress (APC), Zamfara State chapter has called on President Bola Tinubu-led Federal Government to declare a state of emergency in the state due to ongoing security challenges.
This is contained in a statement issued in Gusau on Saturday by the State APC Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris.
Idris stated, “We are appealing to President Bola Tinubu to enforce a state of emergency in the state over insecurity,” noting that residents have lost faith in the ability of Governor Dauda Lawal’s administration to handle the situation effectively.
He acknowledged the military’s efforts against banditry, asserting that “Bandits’ leaders and their gangs have been subdued by the current development of the Federal Government’s fight against banditry.” However, he criticized the state government’s response, alleging that it is undermining federal operations through negative media campaigns.
According to Idris, the governor has not supported military efforts logistically, claiming, “Gov. Dauda is now bent on distracting the operation through media campaigns and propaganda.”
He warned that the ongoing insecurity must be addressed without political interference to allow security forces to operate effectively.
