FRSC promotes 49 senior officers (See List)
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has announced the promotion of 49 senior officers, comprising 21 Assistant Corps Marshals (ACM), 11 Corps Commanders (CC), and 17 Deputy Corps Commanders (DCC).
This development was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by Mr. Charles Edem, Deputy Corps Public Education Officer (DCPEO), in Abuja.
According to Edem, the promotion was approved on Sept. 20 by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Sen. George Akume.
He explained that the 21 Corps Commanders (CC) were elevated to the rank of Assistant Corps Marshals (ACM), while 11 Deputy Corps Commanders (DCC) were promoted to Corps Commanders (CC). Additionally, 17 officers advanced from Assistant Corps Commander to Deputy Corps Commander.
Three of the newly promoted Assistant Corps Marshals will proceed on immediate retirement.
The promoted ACMs include Corps Secretary ACM LD Shehu, Corps Legal Adviser ACM KD Gonji, Corps Public Education Officer ACM Olusegun Ogungbemide, and Corps Intelligence Officer ACM G Ntukidem.
Other promoted officers are ACM AT Hassan, Corps Provost; ACM MR Sabiya, Corps Budget Officer; and ACM KA Ibrahim, Corps Transport Standardisation Office. Further promotions include ACM CM Onukwubiri, Bayelsa Sector Commander; ACM TA Mohammed; ACM SU Galadanchi, in charge of Command Administration and Strategy; and ACM YA Haruna, Acting Zonal Commanding Officer RS3HQ Yola.
Also promoted were ACM A Umar, Acting Zonal Commanding Officer RS1HQ Kaduna; ACM EF Akinlade, in charge of Monitoring and Evaluation; ACM AA Irelewuyi, Acting Zonal Commanding Officer RS4HQ Jos; ACM YD Dio, Head of Personnel, Administration, and Human Resources; and ACM ST Agure, in charge of Federal Operations.
The list also includes ACM M Yakubu, Commandant of the Road Marshal Assistant Training School in Shendam, and ACM HA Godwin, Acting Zonal Commanding Officer RS11HQ Osogbo.
The three senior officers who will proceed on immediate retirement are ACM DI Okuobeya, ACM AS Ochi, and ACM Adekanye.
In addition to these promotions, 11 Corps Commanders, including Corps Information Technology Officer and Technical Adviser to the Corps Marshal, Corps Commander Wasiu Adenekan, were promoted. Seventeen officers were elevated to the rank of Deputy Corps Commander, including DCC EE Uzoma.
Reacting to the promotions, SGF Akume commended the transparency and objectivity of the process. He encouraged the newly promoted officers to demonstrate increased commitment and dedication to the FRSC’s mission to eradicate road traffic crashes (RTCs) and create a safer motoring environment across Nigeria.
Akume emphasized that the promotions align with President Bola Tinubu’s vision of rewarding excellence and hard work. He added that this action reflects the administrative philosophy of the current government’s Hope Agenda.
FRSC Corps Marshal Malam Shehu Mohammed also congratulated the promoted officers, urging them to embrace the increased responsibilities that come with their new ranks. He called for greater focus, dedication, and passion in their duties.
Mohammed reassured those who were not promoted this year to remain loyal and motivated, promising improvements in the overall welfare of FRSC personnel. He encouraged all officers to continue striving toward the Corps’ mandate.
