PDP crisis: I’ll support Damagum to reposition party – Gov Makinde

Published on

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has reaffirmed his support for the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Chairman Illiya Damagum, in efforts to reposition the party.
The governor made this commitment in Ibadan on Wednesday during the groundbreaking ceremony for the upgrade of Ladoke Akintola Airport to international standards.

Makinde emphasized his willingness to back any decisions made by the NWC to strengthen the PDP, adding that internal party disagreements should be set aside, especially with the upcoming gubernatorial election in Edo State.

“Even if we have issues among ourselves, I don’t think this is the right time to fight. We have an important election on Saturday in Edo State, and we should just rally around and deliver our candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo,” Makinde stated.

Addressing why he missed the PDP campaign grand finale in Benin, Makinde explained that he had pre-scheduled meetings in Finland and Sweden before the campaign date was announced.

Despite this, the governor expressed full support for Edo PDP’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo, and encouraged the people of Edo State to vote for him.
