Scores feared dead as vehicle crashes into Anambra market

A tragic accident occurred on Wednesday at the Oye Agu Market in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, leaving several people feared dead.

A speeding vehicle reportedly lost control and crashed into the busy market, causing devastation.

Although full details of the crash remain unclear, eyewitnesses reported that the impact damaged goods and likely claimed multiple lives.

A video circulating on social media shows the wreckage of a Sienna vehicle at the scene, along with some of the traders who were tragically crushed in the accident.

The market, known for its roadside traders selling food items, was left in disarray, with smashed tomatoes and other goods strewn across the road.

Engr. Ben Okongwu, President-General of Abagana community, confirmed the incident and stated that at least three people have lost their lives as a result of the crash. He attributed the accident to the driver losing control of the vehicle.

Meanwhile, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) spokesperson in Anambra State, RC Margaret Onabe, said she had not yet received reports about the accident.

As the community mourns the victims, many are left in shock by the tragic event, which has sparked calls for improved road safety measures in the area.
