Published on

An explosion has struck a section of the Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP) in Bodo Community, Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The incident, which occurred late Monday night near the ongoing Bodo-Bonny Road construction site, sent thick black smoke billowing into the sky as flames rapidly spread into the surrounding mangrove.

A video circulating on Tuesday morning captured the extent of the fire.

The TNP is a critical federal oil transport pipeline that supplies crude to the Bonny Export Terminal in Rivers State.

When contacted for confirmation, the Rivers State Police spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that she would investigate the situation and provide updates.

However, as of the time of this report, no official statement had been issued.
