The Executive Director of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), Engr. Umar Ganduje, has commenced the distribution of 3,627 bags of rice to residents of Dawakin-Tofa Local Government Area in Kano State as part of efforts to support the community during Ramadan.

During the flag-off ceremony in Ganduje town on Thursday, Engr. Umar emphasized that the initiative was aimed at bringing relief to the people during the holy month.

He detailed the breakdown of the distribution, noting that it includes 1,133 bags of 50kg rice and 2,494 bags of 25kg rice.

Addressing the large crowd gathered for the event, Umar, who is a son of the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, assured the people that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is working diligently to ease the economic challenges facing Nigerians. He encouraged the public to remain supportive of the government’s efforts.

He highlighted signs of progress, stating that food prices are already beginning to decline across the country.

Beyond the Ramadan relief, Engr. Umar hinted at future empowerment programmes designed to uplift constituents and reward loyal supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for their steadfast dedication, even during the party’s time in opposition within the state.

“APC is the party that even without government, still cares for its supporters. Despite not being in government in Kano, APC members like Nasiru Ja’oji, Deputy Senate President, and Baffa Babba Dan’agundi, among others, have been supporting our members with empowerment programmes and gestures.

“This is what prompted me to come down to my hometown to support you people and to say thank you for your loyalty to our great party.

“This gesture is just the tip of the iceberg. More empowerment programmes are on the way. I decided to distribute this food item to you to support you as we prepare for the holy month of Ramadan. So, we will be back here with more goodies,” Engr. Umar promised.

He added that the rice would be handed over to APC executives for fair distribution across the 38 wards in Tofa, Rimin Gado, and Dawakin-Tofa.

In a goodwill message, Shehu Haruna Lambu, a former Commissioner of Works and Land, praised Engr. Umar for his unwavering commitment to the community, describing him as a leader who prioritizes the welfare of his people.

“This young man is very kind and has you in his heart. Despite losing the election, he is performing better than the incumbent representative.

“We have witnessed developmental projects in our Local Government brought by him. He electrified our constituency. He lightened up our constituency with solar-powered street lights. He directly and indirectly supports our people.

“We have to organize and massively vote for him if he contests for the next election,” Lambu said.
