Teenager killed, many injured as gas explosion rocks Kano
A 14-year-old boy lost his life, while 21 others sustained serious injuries following a gas explosion at Goron Dutse Quarters in Kano.
The tragic incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. at the residence of Malam Isiyaka Rabiu. Reports indicate that the explosion was triggered by a gas cylinder blast in the kitchen, leading to severe damage and casualties.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, evacuating the injured victims to nearby hospitals for urgent medical attention.
According to a statement by the Kano State Police Command, the resulting fire engulfed parts of the house before emergency responders brought it under control.
A team of police officers led by ACP Nuhu Mohammed Digi of the Dala Area Command, swiftly arrived at the scene alongside firefighters.
The injured victims were immediately evacuated to Gamji Hospital, Dala Orthopaedic Hospital, and Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital for medical treatment.
Authorities have since restored calm in the area, while the Police have expressed condolences to the deceased’s family and commended the swift action of emergency responders.
