(BREAKING) Rivers: I pushed for Fubara’s removal before Tinubu’s intervention – Wike

Published on

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has credited President Bola Tinubu with preventing a political meltdown in Rivers State, revealing he had advocated for the removal of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Wike, a former governor of the oil-rich state, made the disclosure on Friday during a media briefing in Abuja.

According to him, Tinubu’s intervention, which included suspending Governor Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu, and lawmakers amid a deepening political rift, was necessary to stabilize the state.

He said the president’s decision to impose a state of emergency and appoint a sole administrator helped to prevent the state from descending into chaos.
