Nigerian Music Industry Summit and Showcase to Promote Climate Action Holds in Abuja on the 11th Day of July, 2025.

Plans have commenced to ensure the successful hosting of the First Nigerian Music Industry Summit and Showcase (NMISS) scheduled to hold on July 11, 2025 at Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton Abuja, FCT. 

This landmark pioneering event is being hosted by Abuja Most Famous Celebrity Lawyer, Stage Name: UNE – 50 (Musician) and its aims to leverage the power of music, arts, culture to raise awareness, inspire action, and promote inclusive dialogue around Climate Change – particularly among Youth and vulnerable communities and bridging the gap of language barriers. The event is packaged by House of Structure.

According to a release in Abuja by the organisers, the event is essentially aimed at bringing stakeholders of the Nigerian music industry, Climate Artivists, Development Partners, Policy Markers under one roof to have robust conversations all centred around using the Music Industry to champion climate awareness and actions with the theme: The Role of Nigerian Artiste in Promoting Climate Action.

On the other hand, a musical concert will also be held to indeed showcase the amazing talents and creativity of Nigerian musical acts.

The event is further intended to achieve an efficient fuse of awareness UN Sustainable Development Goals with special focus on Climate Action which is SDG – 13, the statement signed by Barr. Uneabunso Vitalis: Une – 50 said:

The summit slated to hold on 11th July, 2025 at Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja is designed to have morning and evening sessions. 

The morning session is intended to bring together industry stakeholders for an interaction session with the theme: "The Role of Nigerian Artiste in Promoting Climate Action & Revolutionizing Revenue Generation Channels of the Nigerian Music Industry". 

The morning session will have High – level opening ceremony where our Ministers, DG/CEOs and Development Partners will be able to deliver Goodwill Messages, we intend to 3 guest speakers who will speak in line with the them, that will also be followed by panel session of 3 guests after the speakers. 

Among other things, the content of the morning session will highlight ways to align music with climate change action, leveraging the cultural, social, and emotional power of music to drive awareness, advocacy, and behavioural change. 

"The UN's 2030 Agenda and the SDGs, particularly SDG 13 (Climate Action), are closely linked to climate action, aiming to achieve sustainability and resilience for people and the planet. The Nigerian music industry, known for its global influence, is increasingly engaging in climate action, with artists and industry professionals collaborating on initiatives that promote sustainability and raise awareness about climate change.

"The National Climate Change Policy for Nigeria 2021-2030 assists the country in achieving its goal of meaningfully contributing of reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and reduce the socio-economic impacts of adverse effects of climatic change. It is our strong intention to use our platform to promote Climate Action agenda, as we believe that the Nigerian music industry has the capacity and indeed global influence to achieve the said mission", the statement says further.

The goals of this summit are as follows:
a) Establishment of a National Working within the Music Industry
b) Promote climate awareness through music and arts;
c) Establish a national platform for collaboration 
d) Create channel for support of climate – inspired artistic innovation
e) Integrate Arts into climate education and policy
f) Promoting Artists platform for awareness creation.

It is of our interest to state that aligning the music industry with climate action is crucial for promoting environmental sustainability and raising awareness about climate action. Nigeria is the best country to champion this initiative in Africa as Nigeria music industry is the largest in the region.
