“PMAN FCT” Commemorating World Music Day & Extending Condolences to the People of Benue State

Published on

Today, as the world comes together to celebrate World Music Day, I, Sydney Sparrow, the Governor of the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chapter, stand in solidarity with musicians, music lovers, and the creative industry at large.

Music is a universal language, a healer, a unifier, and a timeless bridge connecting cultures, generations, and communities. On this special day, I encourage every artist and lover of music within the FCT and beyond to continue to use music as a tool for peace, social change, and national unity. Let us remember that our voices and instruments can shape narratives, comfort the broken, and inspire hope, especially in times of uncertainty.

However, while we celebrate the power of music, we cannot ignore the sorrow that has befallen our nation. My heart is deeply heavy over the senseless and brutal killings of over 200 innocent souls in Benue State. On behalf of PMAN FCT and the entire community of performing musicians under my leadership, I extend our profound condolences to the families of the victims, the government, and the resilient people of Benue State.

May the memories of the departed inspire us to continue to preach peace and stand firm against all forms of violence and injustice in our communities. We call on the relevant authorities to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice and that adequate measures are taken to secure the lives and properties of every Nigerian.

As we lift our voices in song today, let us also lift our hearts in prayer for Benue and for a safer, more harmonious Nigeria.

Happy World Music Day to all musicians, creatives, and music lovers! May our art continue to heal, unite, and uplift humanity.

Signed:
Sydney Sparrow
