NCYCN lauds Tinubu over Amupitan’s appointment as INEC chair, says he’ll uphold Nigerians’ trust
The North Central Youth Council of Nigeria (NCYCN) has applauded President Bola Tinubu for appointing Professor Joash Amupitan as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), expressing confidence that the Kogi-born legal scholar will not let Nigerians down.
President Tinubu, on Thursday, announced the nomination of Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, as the incoming INEC Chairman.
In a statement issued by the Speaker of the Council, Hon. Sunday Asuku, the group described the appointment as historic, noting that it is the first time someone from the North Central region has been chosen to lead the electoral body.
According to Asuku, Prof. Amupitan’s selection reflects the ideals of the Renewed Hope Agenda, which promotes equitable representation and effective governance across Nigeria.
The statement read: “This historic nomination marks a significant milestone, as it is the first time a son of the North Central region has been considered for this esteemed position.
“We express our profound gratitude to Almighty God and appreciation to President Tinubu for this gesture, which underscores his administration’s commitment to fairness, justice, and inclusivity.
“We are confident that Professor Amupitan’s vast knowledge, experience, and expertise in law, academics, and public service make him the ideal candidate for this role.
