Popular Nigerian socialite, Olakunle Churchill has been arrested in Switzerland following the report of the alleged tax Invasion crime.

It is not immediately clear why he was arrested. However, multiple media reports say an associate linked to Churchill is undergoing investigation in Switzerland over alleged tax evasion involving a company dealing on agricultural importation and international trade operations.

Though the arrested associate of Churchill was not immediately named, there is indications that his company is in a business partnership which Churchill Group of Companies, owned by Churchill a renowned entrepreneur.

The company he is in partnership with produces over 15 million dollars turnover yearly since for the past 13 years.

According to reports from Swiss authorities, the company facing probe has been in operation for more than a decade and is alleged to have handled transactions worth millions of Swiss francs through its agricultural import and export activities across multiple international markets.

Sources said the company, which plays prominently in cross-border agricultural trade and logistics, has reportedly maintained business relationships in several countries over the years. 

Investigators are currently reviewing financial records, tax filings and operational documents as part of the ongoing probe.

An associate who pleaded anonymity stated that efforts to reach Churchill has been unsuccessful as his company is part of about 16 companies that deals with the organization.

He however noted that a team of advocates have swung into action to ensure his immediate release.
