JUST IN: EFCC Releases Former Governor Obiano And His Wife

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has freed former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, and his wife, Ebelechukwu.


Obiano, who turned over the government machinery to Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, the former Governor of the Central Bank, was detained by the EFCC at Lagos' Murtala Muhammed International Airport a few hours after the transfer.

 
On his trip to Texas in the United States, he was detained about 8.30 a.m.

Obiano was released, according to a person close to the situation, and will continue his journey to the United States.

"The EFCC freed Obiano and his wife only 2 hours after they were apprehended at the airport.
They missed their trip and will be flying to Houston under different arrangements, according to the source.
